About Me

I have been a registered psychologist for the past 26 years.

The experience I have gained in the various settings and environments in terms of Psychology has provided me with the necessary skills and knowledge to function in my role as mental health care provider.

I matriculated at Bishop Lavis Secondary school after which I registered for a B.A. degree majoring in Psychology. I continued my studies in Psychology and completed the Psychology Honours degree in 1982. In 1983 I completed the Higher Diploma in Education and went on to become a Teacher Counsellor at a secondary school. My exposure to the challenges within this environment, working with at-risk youth, made me realise that I was not sufficiently equipped to deal with the challenges that confronted me on a daily basis.

I then enrolled fulltime for the M.Psych(Counselling) degree at the University of Western Cape. I completed it and registered as a psychologist in 1989.

My work experience included various positions within the Western Cape Education Department Psychological services from 1987 to 1995, i.e. School for the Blind and Mitchell’s Plain School Clinic.

During my tenure at the Education department I dealt with a wide spectrum of cases, i.e. psychometric assessments, group therapy, individual therapy for rape and sexual abuse. I also, during my time at the School Clinic, developed support and preventative skills programme for educators. This falls within the realm of psychoeducation.

From 1995 until July 2015 I worked within a corporate environment in various areas of Human Resources, Operations and Occupational Health and Safety.

I decided to return to the field of Psychology and in private practice, after identifying the need.

My skills and service offerings therefore cover a wide range of psychotherapeutic interventions, counselling and coaching.

In my private time I spend time visiting interesting places in our beautiful country. I also have a special interest in Rhodesian Ridgeback breed of which I have 3.
